1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of squarefacegen.org, the Square Face Generator avatar maker, and related website features (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is provided by the website operator ("we," "us," or "our").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Square Face Generator is a free, browser-based tool for creating and downloading square-face avatars. The public Service does not require registration or payment. We may improve, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service from time to time.

You are responsible for having a compatible device, browser, and internet connection. The generator uses Ruffle to run interactive content, and availability may depend on browser capabilities and the infrastructure used to deliver the Service's website assets.

3. Age and Supervision

You must be legally able to agree to these Terms, or use the Service with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

Children under 13 should use the Service only with a parent or legal guardian's consent, supervision, and guidance. Because the generator requires fine motor control and an understanding of interactive controls, it is not recommended for children under 3.

Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising a child's use of the Service, including any use of external share links.

4. Generated Avatars and Permitted Use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use avatars you create and download through the Service for personal or commercial purposes. Examples include profile pictures, social posts, stickers, presentations, websites, videos, games, and marketing materials.

We do not claim ownership of your creative choices or the final avatar file you download. However, the generator software, interface, source artwork, individual assets, asset collections, website content, and branding remain protected as described below.

You are responsible for how you use a generated avatar. Your use must comply with applicable law and must not infringe another person's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights. We do not guarantee that every generated combination is unique or suitable for a particular use, and similar avatars may be created by other users.

5. Our Intellectual Property

The Service and its underlying materials, including its code, generator software, design, text, graphics, source artwork, asset libraries, collections, logos, and trademarks, are owned by or licensed to the website operator and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

The permission to use a downloaded avatar does not permit you to:

  • Copy, extract, scrape, or redistribute the generator's source assets or asset library
  • Sell or distribute the generator software, website code, or a substantially similar collection of source materials
  • Rehost, frame, mirror, or operate the Service without permission
  • Remove proprietary notices or imply that you own the Service or its underlying materials
  • Use our name, logo, or branding to claim affiliation, endorsement, or official status

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, abusive, or deceptive purposes
  • Violate intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other rights
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems
  • Interfere with the Service, bypass technical restrictions, introduce malicious code, or overload infrastructure
  • Use automated tools to scrape, copy, or mass-download the Service or its source assets
  • Misrepresent generated content as an official statement or endorsement by Square Face Generator
  • Encourage or help another person carry out prohibited conduct

We may take reasonable measures to protect the Service and investigate suspected abuse.

The Service relies on or links to third-party services, including hosting infrastructure and social sharing destinations. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, or practices. Your use of a third-party service may be governed by its own terms and policies.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Service. By using the Service, you acknowledge that policy.

9. Availability and Changes

We aim to keep the Service useful and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, compatibility with every device, preservation of a particular feature, or continued availability of third-party components.

We may update the generator, change usage limits, correct errors, restrict abusive traffic, or suspend all or part of the Service without liability where reasonably necessary. You should keep your own copies of downloaded avatars.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service and generated avatars are provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim all express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and compatibility.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the website operator and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising from or related to the Service or these Terms.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited to the minimum amount permitted by applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Your Responsibility

You are responsible for your use of the Service and generated avatars. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, or costs resulting from your unlawful use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights.

13. Suspension and Termination

We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risks, legal requirements, or violations of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time.

Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, including intellectual-property provisions, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and responsibility for prior conduct, will survive.

14. Applicable Law and Disputes

These Terms apply subject to all mandatory laws and consumer protections that apply to you and the website operator. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived.

If a dispute arises, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally. Any unresolved dispute will be handled by a court or other forum with lawful jurisdiction under applicable law. These Terms do not require binding arbitration.

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, legal requirements, or our practices. The revised Terms will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Service after the revised Terms take effect means you accept them.
